Standard-Independent I/Q Imbalance Compensation in OFDM Direct-Conversion Receivers
نویسندگان
چکیده
The growing number of different mobile communications standards calls for inexpensive and highly flexible receiver architectures supporting all standards. The direct conversion receiver is a very attractive candidate to reach this goal. However, unavoidable imbalances between the Iand the Qbranch of the I/Q demodulator lead to a significant performance degradation at the reception of OFDM signals. In this paper a novel compensation algorithm is presented to overcome this problem. The novel approach does not depend on any standard-specific signal components, such as pilots or a preamble. Instead, a blind I/Q imbalance parameter estimation is performed during the ordinary receive mode. Therefore, the algorithm is applicable to a wide range of present and future OFDM communications standards.

متن کاملBlind Signal Separation-Based Frequency-dependent I/Q Imbalance Compensation for Direct-conversion Receivers
Frequency-dependent I/Q imbalance is one of the concerns in the design of a high data rate wireless wideband direct-conversion receiver (DCR). To address this challenge, a blind signal separation method, based on a conjugate signal model is proposed. Necessary and sufficient conditions for signal separation are derived, and a gradient-based method is used to solve this problem. The performance ...
متن کاملIQ Imbalance Compensation Scheme for MB-OFDM Using Transmission Diversity
Currently, multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) is considered to be one of the modulation schemes of UWB and is being actively investigated. It is necessary to provide lowcost receivers for consumers to receive wide support for the MB-OFDM system. Such receivers can be achieved by utilizing direct-conversion architecture. Direct-conversion architecture suffers from IQ ...
